Through a hopper and conveyor, this machine takes round plastic
cylinders of
various diameters and creates a chamfered and counter bored tip.
The customer had a 1960's era Bridgeport Mill
that they wanted converted to handle the machining of the cylinder. We
automated the quill to automatically plunge and retract and mounted our
material handling platform to the mill's table.

The plastic cylinders are cued up on a continuously
running conveyor which is fed by a hopper. The cylinders are allowed
into the clamping area one at a time via a pneumatically controlled gate.
Once the cylinder is in clamping position, the clamp pushes and clamps the
cylinder into its cutting position. Once clamped, the cutter chamfers
and and counter bores the cylinder. After cutting, the cylinder is
ejected down a ramp and into a trough ending up on another conveyor.
The processed parts are then carried off to packaging.
